The Taumarunui Residents’ and Ratepayers’ Association (TRRA) are always keen to find ways to help our community. An opportunity has presented itself to get bayonet LED light bulbs for a very reasonable price. We thought this would be a great community initiative to help people where it hurts most; i.e. power consumption and lines bills.
Although we only have about 180 light bulbs left as a few were snapped up at our public meeting, the hope is that this initiative can self-fund indefinitely giving people in Taumarunui and surrounds access to LED lighting for their homes and sheds, literally saving them thousands of dollars in years to come.
Check out some of the savings on power you can expect by switching over to LED, apart from the mercury health concerns other less, effective power-saving light bulbs offer.

Calculations based on:
- Average current retail price of $10.00 per LED bulb;
- Average home of 10 light bulbs operating 3 hours a day at 18.269 cents kWh on the KCE Mokoiti Plan compared to 60 watt equivalent;
- 87.5% reduction in lighting demand during Load Control periods for consumers with a Smart Meter based in the TLC Ongarue consumer group;
- Individual results may vary depending on power usage patterns.
